Swede was one of the most caring, fun-loving, and dearest friends I have had. Our friendship began at Viking and lasted all these years. I will miss our frequent breakfasts, lunches, or dinners - and our glasses of wine. Mostly, I will miss him and his great sense of humor. God bless and keep him always.

Swede was my brother's father in law and he and Helen and my folks had many great times together. He was a great kidder and just a super wonderful kind considerate man. A great husband, father, and friend.
They don't come any better than Swede Godbout.

Uncle Swede holds a special place in my life; I worked for him from my sophomore year in High School until I graduated from College. He was such a great role model to me as a young man, he was generous, compassionate and fair. He always treated me as an adult and trusted me with responsibilities beyond my age. I am so blessed to have been able to spend as much time as I did with Uncle Swede, he has influenced my life in so many positive ways. We are all so much better for having Uncle Swede in our life; he will truly be missed.

Uncle Swede was a very special man. Many of us helped out on the delivery trucks at one time or another. It was always a pleasure to be part of this. I have very fond memories of Uncle Swede, his smile, and his engaging personality. A very special man, a great uncle. It is our loss, but it heaven's gain.

My parents and I visited Uncle Swede and Aunt Helen often while I was growing up. I have fond memories of visiting their home and then apartment in Blue Island. They were both very good to me. As others have mentioned, Uncle Swede always had a joke or something to tease my husband and I about. Hopefully he and Aunt Helen can pick up where they left off. Mike and I extend our sympathy to Tom and Doreen and their families.

Uncle Harold was such a special person and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. My favorite memory is meeting him for a drink before the infamous high school reunion where I reconnected with Steve. I believe he still takes responsibility for our meeting since he delivered me to the event! He shared such wonderful stories about the Godbouts growing up that night and especially about my Dad. Both Aunt Helen and Uncle Harold were such fun and I was fortunate to have them as my godparents. They were so gracious and kind. We were so lucky to have the time over recent years together that we did.

I'll always remember Uncle Swede with a cherry smile and warm hello. He was typically quick with a joke and was interested in how life was going. So sorry his time came, he'll be missed by so many people.

I will always remember the times I would be walking around Blue Island and hear a car honking and there would be Uncle Swede with a big old smile on his face asking how I was. He would always tease my husband that he would see other people looking for golf balls in his territory.
When I would go to see Uncle Swede in the hospital or the nursing home I could see he wasn't feeling well but he would always say'Toni is everything ok,how are you feeling'.he was always so considerate.
Uncle Swede and I had a special bond and it is a pleasure and honor to have been part of his life.
With love,
Toni Trentacosti
