To James Jr. and Jason, and Jimmy Sr...I was saddened to hear about Jo Anne's passing. It's always a shock when someone you grew up with is taken at such a young age. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I first met Jo Anne back in fourth grade at Paul Revere Grade School and we became fast friends. Back then Blue Island was one of those towns where everyone seemingly knew every one...and we did...because we all lived life outside running around the town together, involved in everything. Swimming at Memorial Park pool in the summer and ice skating at Hart Park in winter (she was a force to be reckoned with at "crack-the-whip...lol).
Right from the get-go Jo Anne was such a special person...a force of nature who was wise beyond her years. She was always so kind, caring, and wickedly funny. Many times, especially in junior high, a group of us would hang out after school, just talk about life, our dreams, and what we wanted to do. You could usually count on Jo Anne to punctuate any conversation with a witty remark, a hearty laugh, and a roll of her eyes, as if to say, "Yeah, right! Get real!"
It's times like this that gives one pause to reflect back on life and those that have passed through. I will remember Jo Anne as a kind person who always put a smile on my face. I'm so glad I got to know and spend some time with her.
I know Jo Anne is in a better place. One always wonders how much time we have on this earth and what's God's plan for us. All I can say is to cherish the memories, remember the good times, and take solace in knowing that she will always be with each and every one us. Just smile and think of the great times had with a wonderful person. Simply, Jo Anne was the best!
