I'm grateful that I ever got to know Edith, originally through the Pleasanton Evangelical Free Church. Over the year or so prior to March when everything closed down I visited Edith once a week or so at the Parkview living facility and later at Creekside. She was always pleasant and gracious. Very interesting to talk with. I had the privilege of visiting her on her 100th birthday this past January. A couple of years ago as the Pleasanton church was planning to move congregants were free to take whatever books from the library they wanted. I took some. One of them was called, "The Lord of Glory" by A.C. Gaebelein and it was from 1910. On the flyleaf the written name is J. Van de Roovart and dated 1932. I think that would have been Edith's father-in-law. In any case I brought it and read from it to her. It's a wonderful book. Well, I envy Edith--she's home with the Lord. But she sure paid her dues! 100 years! And God be thanked for her family who took such good care of her in her final years.
