Obituary of George C. Becker Jr.

George C. Becker Jr., 91, of Blue Island, passed from this life Monday, May 31, 2021 at his home. George was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. nee Young, who passed away December 26, 2016. He is the loving father of Deborah (Tom) Hutchinson, George (Susan) Becker, Kathleen Becker and Karen (John) McCormick. George is the devoted grandfather of eight and proud great grandfather of eight. He was the dear brother of the late Charles (Corrine) Becker, Beverly (late Wayne) Schoenwald, Janice Schmidt, fond step-brother of John (Pat) Krizik and the late Lois Majchizak. Special thanks to John G. Stokes, his grandson, and his wife Lisa. George was born September 3, 1929 in Blue Island to the late Audrey nee Bell and the late George J. Becker and has been a lifelong member of the Blue Island community. He was a faithful member of First Ev. Lutheran Church. George was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II and Korea. He employed by Bethlehem Steel of Burns Harbor, Indiana, as a Turn Foreman for thirty years, retiring in 1983. He was a past member and officer of the United Steelworkers of America, Local 6201, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1203, the Legion of the Moose IL 200, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Patrick T. Hallinan Post #3580 and the American Philatelic Society of State College, PA. Visitation for George will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Interment will take place at First Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Alsip.
