Obituary of Edward J. Ford
Edward Joseph Ford, age 64, born and raised in Blue Island, Illinois; longtime resident of Crete, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on October 7th, 2021 at Munster Community Hospital.
Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife Julie Kay Ford (nee Mitchell). Both fought long courageous battles but unfortunately succumbed to severe complications of Covid-19.
Edward was born on October 11th, 1956 at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island to the late James and Patricia (nee Gebert) Ford. He was a much loved and loving father to Nichole Jean Ford. Loving Stepdad to Patrick (Melissa) Doud and Anthony (Ashleigh) Doud. Devoted Step-Grandfather of Harper Doud. He is survived by his loving family, Della Hargrove (Bobby), Janis(Michael) Gricki, Ruth Riley(Tony), Joyce(Gary) Willette-Pounds, Charlie(Jeanne) Ford, Frank(Renee) Ford, Rodger Ford, Laura Ford, and preceded by the late Marianne Ford, Margaret McGary, Carol Ritchie and Billy Ford, along with many nieces and nephews.
Edward started his career path, where he also made life long friendships working for Federal Signal Corporation in University Park, Illinois. Ed went on to serve as a Paramedic and Firefighter for many different towns, including Oak Forest and Country Club Hills. There he moved on to work for Accurate Board-up & Glass, Inc., where he spent his final years of life working side by side all of his good friends and all the south suburban fire departments.
Visitation for Edward and Julie will be held Friday, October 15, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Their funeral mass will take place at St. Benedict Church (now known as St. Mary Magdalene Church), 2339 York St., Blue Island on Saturday, October 16, at 10:00am. Cremation private.
