Obituary of Gilbert L Whitfield

Gilbert L. Whitfield, 86, of the southside of Chicago, passed from this life Saturday, March 12, 2022. He is the beloved father of Karen Whitfield and Christopher Whitfield. Gilbert is the former husband of April S. Whitfield. Gilbert was born August 12, 1935 in Chicago to the late Mary and Edward Whitfield. He was a United States Army veteran serving as an artillerist. Gilbert was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Chicago. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed fishing. Gilbert was retired from Michael Reese Hospital where he was employed as a security guard. Cremation was private. A committal service will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National VA Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Please check back on our website for updates. Thank you.
