Obituary of Carmen 'Nana' R. Sierra
Carmen R. Sierra (nee Rangel), 85 of Blue Island, passed from life on June 14, 2022. Carmen was born September 18, 1936, in Salamanca, GTO Mexico to the late Genoveva Torres
and Emiliano Rangel. She was a long-time resident of Blue Island, Illinois. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the St. Benedict Women’s Club and the Ladies of Guadalupe.
Carmen was the beloved wife to the love of her life, the late Porfirio R. Sierra. The loving mother to Raquel (late Tomas) Rodriquez, Maira (late Robert) McDonald, Sofia (Hector)
Aguilera, Tony (Cecilia), and Porfirio (Rosalia). Grandmother to the Rodriquez kids: Enrique (Ida), Martin (Adela), Tomas (Lorena), Francisco (Marilu), Sergio, Jose Juan (Rosa), Daniel (Lupe), Lucia (Juan), MariCruz (Adan); the Haynes kids: William “BJ”, Analicia (Dillan), Isabella (Anthony), and Keefe; the Aguilera kids: Marily, Hector J., and Tadeo; and Maximo Sierra. Great grandmother to 20, which includes her “Chatita”, Delilah Piekarski, and a great-great grandmother to one.
Carmen was preceded in death by her brothers, Santiago, Mariano, Anselmo, and half-brother Enrique. She leaves behind her half siblings Agustin, Rafael, Benjamin, Sanjuana. She also leaves behind her beloved godbrothers Jesus and Jose Gutierrez Rangel. Carmen was a beloved auntie, godmother, and friend to many and remained a mother-in-law to Sonia Lopez. She was a loving, hardworking, and resourceful woman who was devoted to her family and friends. Carmen faithfully recited the Rosary daily and would pray for everyone that was in her life. She was a Walker, Texas Ranger watching, coffee sipping, cookie dunking woman that will always be missed dearly.
Visitation for Carmen will be held Friday, June 24, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will begin Saturday, June 25, with chapel prayers at 9:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island then to St. Mary Magdalene (formerly St. Benedict) Church, 2339 York St., Blue Island for mass at 10:00 am. Interment St. Benedict Cemetery in Crestwood.
