Obituary of Michael A. Byrnes

Michael Adam Byrnes, 41, of Blue Island, taken from us too soon on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

Michael was born January 31, 1981 in Blue Island. He attended local schools and soon became know as “Mikey” to all his family and friends. Mikey was both well read and also enjoyed Punk Rock music. He was a renowned chef who’s taste transcended his craft.  He turned his passion into his life’s work, preparing outstanding meals at many local restaurants with BBQ being his specialty. Above all he will be remembered as an honorable, righteous man believing in family and friendships.

Mikey is the beloved son of Michael J. (Maureen) Byrnes and Gina A. Young. He is the loving life partner of Lisa Schneider. Mikey is the cherished brother of Matthew Byrnes, Sara (Marc) Nunez and Joel Canik, dear step-brother of Lara Kill. He is the devoted uncle of his nieces and nephew. Mikey leaves numerous other family members and friends to cherish his memory.

Visitation for Mikey will be held Monday, September 12, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Cremation will be private.

Our parking lot is adjacent to the north side of our building. In the event our lot is full, you may park in the stalls in front of Blue Island City Hall after 5:00 pm. There are two city parking lots within walking distance of our funeral home, one is located on Vermont Street, 1/2 block west of Western Avenue,  across the street from the fire department and the post office, the other is located on York Street, 1/2 block west of Western Avenue, directly across from the Blue Island Public Library. For those who may use public transportation, we are also within walking distance of the Vermont Street Metra and Rock Island train station. Thank you.
