Obituary of Margaret Mary Keene

Margaret Mary Keene nee LaVelle, 100, of Orland Park, formerly of Blue Island, passed from this life Sunday, April 23, 2023.

Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Albert N. Keene, who passed away in 1992. She is the loving mother of Thomas (Marie) Keene and Mary Ellen (Jerome) Colletti. Margaret is the cherished grandmother of Brian Keene, Andrew Keene, Michael Malito and Meghan Malito. She is the dearest sister of Dolores Bourke and the late Rosemary Siefert, Mary Richert and Elizabeth Bourke. Margaret was the caring godmother of Mary Jane McDermott and Karen Miner and the fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She leaves many other family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Margaret was born November 18, 1922 in Chicago to the late Marie nee McLaughlin and the late Eugene LaVelle. She attended beauty school where she met her soon to be husband, Albert. Together they owned and operated Ray-Clare Hair Salon, formerly of Blue Island. Margaret was a faithful member of St. Julie Billiart Roman Catholic Church and formerly volunteered in the parish as a money counter for twenty years. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed making beautiful memories with them.

A memorial service for Margaret will be celebrated on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Interment was held privately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip.
