Obituary of Russell W. Nedved

Russell W. Nedved, of Blue Island, passed from this life Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the age of ninety-three.

Russell is the beloved father of Kim (Michael) Slabik and Jon (Brenda) Nedved. He is the devoted grandfather of David (Christina) Nedved, Phillip (Amanda) Nedved, Melissa Slabik, Benedict (Nicole) Slabik, Elisabeth Nedved, Matthew Nedved, Michael Nedved and proud great great grandfather of Willa, Ashlie and Alicyn. Russell is the loving brother of Florence Kozak and the ex-husband and dear friend of Darlene Balto. He leaves many other family members and friends to cherish his memory.

Russell was born February 2, 1930 in Chicago to the late Florence nee Miller and the late Frank J. Nedved. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in Germany from 1952-1954. Russell was a former employee of Rheem Manufacturing of Chicago. He was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, however, he also enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in all their various sporting events. Russell appreciated the music of Elvis and various country artists. He often spent his time at the casinos in Vegas, being known as a “High Roller” at the craps table!

Visitation for Russell will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. US Army Military Honors to be conducted at 7:30 pm. Cremation will be private.
