Obituary of Deborah A. Beasley

“ When through one woman a little more love and goodness, a little more light and truth come into the world-then that woman’s life has had meaning.” 

Deborah A. Beasley nee Ciesla of Calumet Park, passed from this life Monday, February 5, 2024 at the age of sixty-eight.

Deborah is the devoted mother of Stanley (Kim) Beasley, the late Joshua Beasley and Margaret Beasley. She is the cherished grandmother of Kieala, Nathaniel, Gabriel, Khalil, Gianna, Kimber and Peyton. Deborah was the former wife of Stanley Beasley and Robert Myers. She is the loving sister of Michael, Joanne, Marcy, Maxine, Frieda, Brenda and the late David and the adored aunt of many nieces and nephews. Dear to her heart, she also leaves her fur babies, Kane, Buttercup, Frank, Daisy, Porch Cat and Olivia. Deborah leaves numerous other family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Deborah was born May 4, 1955 in Chicago to the late Laura nee Kvietkauskas and the late Edward Ciesla. She attended Mother of Sorrows High School and Columbia College. Deborah embraced her role as mother with warmth, guidance and unwavering support. Nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She taught her children by example, putting family first and showing respect to everyone.

Deborah was a woman of faith and devotion to God. She was a former member of Seven Holy Founders Parish where she served in the Woman’s Club and in the choir. Deborah continued on joining St. Stanislaus Church in Posen and then St. Donatus Church in Blue Island.

Above all, Deborah will forever remain in the hearts of so many as “Mrs. Beasley” the Children’s Librarian at the Blue Island Public Library. For over thirty years, she encouraged so many children to fall in love with books. Story Time was the highlight of the week for so many children over the years. There was never a question that she would not answer, nor a child that left her without being a little smarter. Deborah showed so much love to these little humans. Her beautiful smile reflected the joy in her heart when she was with them. Deborah once spoke of a child who once had little interest in reading, she encouraged him to read a series of books that he soon found fascinating. This child is now a young man working in the book publishing industry. The following is a direct quote from Deborah: “Reading creates a better citizen and a curious explorer. Reading opens up possibilities and can help a child find their calling. That’s all we should want for our children”.

Upon retirement, Deborah still continued her life’s work. She loved a bargain and found many interesting reads at the Dollar Store. But, only after she took the time to sort out and rearrange the books in proper order! Deborah filled her hours making memories with her family, cuddling with her fur babies and of course, reading.

A memorial visitation for Deborah will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Chapel prayers will begin Friday at 9:15 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, then to St. Donatus Church, 1939 Union St., Blue Island, for a memorial mass at 10:00 am. Cremation will be private.
