Obituary of Melissa Ann Laging

Melissa Ann Laging of Griffith, Indiana, formerly of Blue Island, Illinois, passed from this life on Monday, June 3, 2024 at the age of 45.

Melissa was born on July 4, 1978 in Oak Lawn.  She grew up and attended schools in Blue Island and was a graduate of Dwight D. Eisenhower High School.

Melissa is the loving fiancé of Matt Mueller.  She is the adoring mother of Christian and Logan and stepmom to Madison and Ellie Mueller.  Melissa is the cherished grandmother to Beau.  She is the beloved daughter of William and Janice (Fritsch) Laging.  Melissa is the dear sister to Nicole Laging and Todd and Jennifer (Guerrero) Laging.  She is the loving Aunt Melissa known as “Momo” to Alyssa and Hunter as well as the great Aunt to Niko. Melissa leaves many friends and family to cherish her memory and will be deeply missed by all.

It was important to Melissa to create a loving home for her kids and her treasured grandson.  She loved to create memories that they will cherish forever including many summer afternoons swimming.  Melissa had a love for spending time on the water.  She traveled to many beach destinations with her favorites being in the Caribbean.  When in the Carribbean she could be found relaxing in the sand or boating on the water.

Melissa will be remembered as a true caregiver at heart by her family, friends, coworkers, patients and the families of the patients she served as a hospice nurse.  She was a natural when it came to caring for others.

Visitation for Melissa will be held Friday, June 7 from 3pm to 8pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. The funeral service will begin Friday, June 7 at 6pm at the Krueger Funeral Home. Cremation will be private.
