Obituary of LaVerne K. Zager

LaVerne K. Zager (née Dornhecker) passed from this life on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the age of ninety-five.

LaVerne was the beloved wife of the late Frank Zager, who passed away July 15, 1992. They were united in marriage for over forty years. LaVerne is the loving mother of Nancy (Michael) Tuley, Linda (Paul) Fier, Thomas (Velia) and Cathe Adamski.  She is the loving sister of Marvin Dornhecker and was preceded in death by her siblings Richard, Harry, Kenneth and Marilyn Dornhecker.  LaVerne is the cherished grandmother of ten, great grandmother of sixteen and great great grandmother of eight.  She leaves many other dear family members and friends to cherish her memory.

A life-long resident of Blue Island, LaVerne was born on March 17, 1929 to the late Harold Dornhecker and the late Esther née Neibert.  She attended local Blue Island schools, met her husband and stayed at home raising her beautiful family.  LaVerne was the most generous woman always wanting to please those around her, asking for nothing in return but your smile.  Her laughter and amazing sense of humor will live on in the stories told.  She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Visitation for LaVerne will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Avenue in Blue Island.  The funeral will take place Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Krueger Funeral Home.  LaVerne will lie in state from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.  Burial at First Lutheran Cemetery, Alsip will follow after the funeral service.
