Dear Susan,
I feel as though I know you personally, as I've heard many wonderful stories about your family. I started out as a management trainee under Ralph many years ago. I was very fortunate to have been assigned to his team, as he was regarded as one of the best investment gurus in the business. He was generous in his teaching and unmatched in his ethics. After 13 years, I left with a marvelous foundation and the good fortune of continuing to have my career shepherded by Ralph's impeccable wisdom. We grew to be great friends, often meeting for lunch or dinner throughout the years and of course keeping in touch by phone. He had an enormous influence on my life as well as many of the other employees and his clients. He was devoted to his work and to his family---his two great loves! and oh yes, golf fits in there somewhere too!
I know this is your first Xmas without him and he will be greatly missed. I belatedly offer you my sincere condolences. He was truly a one-of a-kind guy.
