As a newcomer to Blue Island 35+ years ago, I have fond memories of conversations with Jack. He was my 'go to guy' for the "back story" in town. I admired his community involvement, friendly nature and warm smile. Jack has certainly been a great asset to the city. So very sorry for the family, you are in my thoughts.

Sad to see the ranks shrinking, however, it's always great to look back to the friendships, the stories we have shared. We are happy that we were able to meet twice last year and bring our memories and stories up to date. We will keep the family in our prayers.

Jack was a wonderful friend and mentor. He recruited me to join the Blue Island Lions Club and Blue Cap Deacons some twenty-five years ago. Jack displayed unflagging optimism, enthusiasm and was always the first one to volunteer to help. I doubt that the word "no" was in his vocabulary. Plus, he could reel off jokes that would curl your hair! So long Jack.
